February 5 ------ Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in an interview broadcast, put Ukrainian casualties in the nearly three-year-old war against Russia at 45,100, with the number of injured at 390,000.
Zelensky, interviewed by British journalist Piers Morgan, estimated the Russian dead at 350,000 and injured at between 600,000 and 700,000. He said Russian forces had "many" missing in action.
He said Ukraine is ready to engage in the diplomatic track to end the war, including talking to Russian president Vladimir Putin if necessary. "If people believe we must move to the diplomatic track, and I believe we are ready to move to the diplomatic track, there must be the U.S., Europe, Ukraine and Russia," he said.
