On December 13, 2023, the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) held a graduation ceremony for their second batch of graduates for the year 2023 in Kamaya Point, Alas-Asin, Mariveles Bataan. A total of 209 graduates from the second batch of Versileas Class of 2023 received their respective diplomas for Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering.
The ceremony began with the invocation rites, led by Father Gerard Cuenca. He blessed the event and offered a prayer to commemorate the occasion. The opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Conrado F. Oca, President of the Associated Marine Officers and Seaman's Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP) and MAAP Chairman. He welcomed the guests, sponsors, partners from different shipping companies, parents, and graduates, expressing his gratitude to the parents and leaders who supported the graduates throughout their journey.
Following this, the MAAP Dean of Academics, Captain Daniel S. Torres Jr., presented the second batch of graduates from the Versileas Class of 2023. MAAP President, Vice-Admiral Eduardo Ma R. Santos conferred the degrees on the graduates, and Lieutenant Vincent T. Larida declared and conferred the Commission Orders to the graduates and congratulated them for their hard work.
Lastly, Vice-Admiral Eduardo Ma R. Santos gave a brief introduction to the guest speaker, Hon. Bienvenido E. Laguesma, Department of Labor and Employment Secretary, who delivered his commencement address, recognized the graduates' efforts and encouraged them to demonstrate the capabilities they gained in MAAP. He concluded his speech by praising MAAP for producing internationally competitive sailors and wishing the graduates success in their upcoming journeys.
