Vayson scores unanimous win over Inoue, defends WBO Asia-Pacific title

April 25 ------ Filipino boxer Jayson Vayson stamped his class in his first title defense and scored a unanimous decision victory over crowd favorite Takeru Inoue in their WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight at the Sumiyoshi Ward Center in Osaka, Japan.

Vayson earned the nods of the three judges with a score of 96-94, 97-93, 96-94, with the 25-year-old fighter highlighting the night with a thunderous left hook that knocked down his opponent in the 10th round.

The prized boxer from Veruela, Agusan del Sur improved to 12-1-1 (6KOs), and handed Inoue his first taste of defeat for a 4-0-1 record. The 5-foot-4 pug managed to stay composed despite being hit at the back of his neck. Though there was no deduction on the home bet, the all-Japanese officials favored the Filipino after an impressive showing throughout the bout.
