February 22 ------ There is no stopping Taylor Swift from setting another record, as she was named the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry’s (IFPI) 2024 Global Recording Artist of the Year for the fifth time.

The music platform announced Swift’s milestone on its official X (formerly Twitter) page on Tuesday, Feb. 18. This is also the singer-songwriter’s third consecutive year to bring home the recognition. “At No. 1 for an unprecedented third year running after another record-breaking year following the Eras Tour and subsequent album drop it’s the first ever 5x Global Artist Chart winner, US pop megastar Taylor Swift. Congrats,” IFPI’s post read.

Behind Swift are Drake, Seventeen, Billie Eilish, Stray Kids, Zach Bryan, The Weeknd, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Sabrina Carpenter. Swift’s latest album “The Tortured Poets Department” was also named the Top Global Chart of 2024, per the music organization. This year’s win marks Swift’s fifth time to be recognized by the IFPI after 2023, 2022, 2019 and 2014. Other artists who the music organization recognized are BTS (2021 and 2020), Drake (2018 and 2016), Ed Sheeran (2017), Adele (2015) and One Direction (2013).

Swift’s recent milestone came two months after the conclusion of “The Eras Tour,” which spanned 149 shows from March 2023 to December 2024. Aside from the US, other stops included the United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, Australia and France, to name a few.
