January 24 ------ CHOCO Mucho extended its sweet run of form in 2025 with a statement 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18 win over PLDT in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Philsports Arena. Sisi Rondina led an 8-1 run from a 17-all deadlock in the fourth set to deny a late PLDT comeback, showing the way for Kat Tolentino-less Choco Mucho with 20 points on 19 attacks and one ace. The Flying Titans are now on a three-game unbeaten run, becoming the fourth team to hit the five-win mark this conference at 5-3.
Taking Tolentino's starting spot in the opposite hitter role is Dindin Santiago-Manabat as she turned back the clock with a vintage 16-point performance along with eight digs. It was a one-woman show yet again for Savi Davison who had the High Speed Hitters on her shoulders with 27 points and 15 receptions the only one in double figures. Dell Palomata had eight markers while Erika Santos and Majoy Baron pitched in seven apiece.
It's been the same old story for Choco Mucho over the past year when it comes to the untimely absences of their key players. Tolentino, who suffered a ruptured appendix during team training, became the latest blow to a still-depleted Flying Titans side just as ace playmaker Deanna Wong returned to full fitness. Team captain Rondina hopes the rest of her team can still stand by her own life motto the rest of the way: accepting the fact that everything happens for a reason. "Lagi kong iniisip talaga, life motto ko ‘to na everything happens for a reason. Sa mga nangyayari ngayon, alam ko naman na nandyan ‘yung mga teammates ko para mag-step up at gawin ‘yung trabaho na naiwan ng kasama namin. Rondina added: "Hindi naman na ‘to bago sa team namin. Lagi lang namin iniisip na ito na naman, pero sabi nga ni ate Din, challenge accepted. Wala kaming ibang gagawin kundi ipakita na ‘yung naiwang trabaho ng kasama namin, tatrabahuin namin."
