RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA, November 19 ------ Two of the top countries in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang scene went head-to-head in the grand finale of the IESF 2024 event, as the Philippines and Malaysia clashed for the ultimate prize. The Philippines are the defending champions from last year's IESF, but now they were dethroned as Malaysia secured the championship, sweeping Sibol 2-0.
Malaysia's lineup for the IESF consisted of members from the defending MSC 2024 champions, Selangor Red Giants, and one member from JP NINERS. They are coached by a Filipino in Michael Angelo "Arcadia" Bocado. Meanwhile the Philippines' roster had majority of its members from MDL's RRQ Kaito and a sole member from Falcons AP.Bren. From the beginning, Malaysia went all out as they controlled the early game, taking most of the turrets, where they looked destined to end it all. But on the 15th minute, Sibol delivered a strong defensive resistance, led by Edferdz "Ferdz" Fernandez who unleashed a Penalty Zone on multiple members. They also had the blessings of Kyle "KyleTzy" Sayson's Nolan who was seen split pushing on the toplane.
It seemed the momentum will carry on for the Philippines especially after that 17th minute clash, but Malaysia's macro game at the final moments sealed the deal. Being able to decipher Carl Edriel "Minguin" Gallantes's diversion plays with his Luo Yi and nerf KyleTzy's movements, Malaysia was able to deliver the finishing touches. But the control didn't just last in the 1st game as Malaysia commanded the 2nd game. During the 2nd game, Ferdz' Gatotkaca struggled to find a room for engagement while Muhammad "Yums" Suhairi, became a key contributor in shutting down Sibol's momentum.
Despite the early game farm from KyleTzy's Suyou, he was left stifled from the crowd control from Muhammad Haqqullah "Sekys" Ahmad Shahrul Zaman's Alpha. In the end, Malaysia proved that they're still one of the toughest regions in MLBB esports. With their victory, Malaysia brings hom USD70,000 (Php4 million) while Sibol bags home USD40,000 (Php2.3 million).
