Seth Fedelin reflects on his breakthrough year

January 25 ------ Seth Fedelin first captured the spotlight as a housemate on reality show "Pinoy Big Brother: Otso" in 2018. Since then, he has been lighting up the screen with memorable roles such as in "Kadenang Ginto" (2019), "Huwag Kang Mangamba" (2021) and "Dirty Linen" (2023). He then conquered the big screen through "My Future You," an entry in the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival and one of the final films approved by the late Regal Films matriarch, Lily Monteverde. For his role as Lex in the film, Fedelin was nominated as Best Actor and took home the well-deserved Breakthrough Performance Award.

At the year's first Star Magic Spotlight press conference, Fedelin celebrated this remarkable milestone in his career. When asked about his win, he shared, "That award, I really didn't expect it. I couldn't believe it. It was a delayed reaction — maybe when I got home, that's when I felt it, that's when I held the trophy. So this is how it feels to have your work recognized, to have your talent noticed." He also shared a heartfelt moment with his family after the awards night. "When I got home, Mama and the rest of the family were waiting for me, even though the awards night ended late, because they also wanted to hold the trophy. When I arrived, my favorite food was already prepared. We just ate together and reminisced about our past life experiences. I was truly so happy," he added.

The Metro Manila Film Festival entry marked the big-screen debut of FranSeth, with Fedelin sharing the spotlight alongside his on-screen partner Francine Diaz, solidifying their status as one of today's most promising love teams. "Before My Future You came along, Francine and I would always talk about what we were going to do next, what our next project would be. Francine and I never lost hope. We really waited until My Future You came along. "While we were shooting it (My Future You), we told ourselves, 'This is where people will truly see us,'" Fedelin added.

Meanwhile, when asked if he's open to taking on solo projects without Diaz, Fedelin shared, "That's a big question for a love team. But if you ask how long we'll be together, I want to be with Francine. I can't say for how long, but what I can say is that I still want to be with her. As much as possible, when I step onto the stage, I want her to be there. I want our movies to be the reason we climb that stage."

He acknowledged that this has been an open discussion between them. "At the end of the day, Francine started as Francine. She joined ABS-CBN and worked as Francine from the beginning. The same goes for me as Seth. I can say that Francine is incredibly supportive of me. She's 100 percent the one who boosts my confidence, my growth as an actor. Now that we've finished My Future You, if you ask if we're okay taking on solo projects, I'd say yes — we fully support each other." Looking ahead to 2025, both Fedelin and Diaz are set to star in the upcoming series Nobody, alongside Gerald Anderson. This marks their fourth collaboration, following "Dirty Linen," "Fractured," and "My Future You." With their partnership continuing to thrive, they remain two of the most exciting young stars in the industry.
