December 8 ------ Scottie Thompson will miss 2-3 weeks of Ginebra’s PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup campaign due to a swollen left knee. Head coach Tim Cone bared as much after the Kings played without the former PBA MVP in their 110-99 victory over Terrafirma.
Thompson joined the team at the Philsports Arena but was in street clothes, missing a game for the first time since the 2021 Philippine Cup due to COVID. The 30-year old guard got hurt during the second quarter of their eventual 90-87 win over Blackwater last November 26. During the game, Bradwyn Guinto accidentally landed on his left leg during a battle for the rebound near the rim.
Thompson underwent MRI scanning the following day and fortunately for him and Ginebra, no structural damage was found, according to Cone. Being out for the said time frame could make him miss around three games against Phoenix Super LPG, San Miguel, and Meralco. Thompson had played in all of their first four games of the season and averaged 11.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and a steal.
