MANILA, February 29 ------ P-pop boy group SB19 member Justin de Dios hopes to give a calming vibe with his solo debut single "surreal" released on Thursday.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, de Dios said he was inspired by the other members of SB19 to pursue a solo career. "Siyempre po as a group, when we do something, kailangan naming i-consider lahat ng bagay. So, naisip ko rin po na since kaya naman ng time, parang hindi naman ako aalis ng SB19 dahil may time," the singer said. "Triny ko na ano naman 'yung kakalabasan 'pag me lang, without the ideas of the other members 'yung gagawin ko. Na-inspire rin ako sa ibang members na nakakapag-solo projects," he added.
He also detailed the process behind his cover of the Maroon 5 hit track "Sunday Morning," which was originally a performance for their concert. "Gusto ko sana siyang i-perform during our tour before na hindi natuloy so sabi ko sayang naman 'yung na-prepare ko so why not create a cover video na lang din and i-record 'yung kanta. Nilabas namin 'yung 'Sunday Morning' before 'surreal' para rin to test waters," he said. With the help of siblings Pablo and Josue Nase, de Dios perfected his two-year-old song from his ukulele lessons. "Two years ago nagta-try lang akong mag-aral ng ukulele, out of the blue nasulat ko 'yung kanta. Buo na siya pero 'di pa ganoon ka-perfect. I asked sina Pablo and 'yung brother niya to help fix the song, tinulungan nila akong gumawa ng instrumental," the singer said. "'Yung 'surreal' is like a pop song lang din pero 'yung feeling niya mas mabagal ... mas dito ako nag-grow sa pop as SB19. Hopefully, in the future makapag-explore sa ibang genres like sa acoustic, pop-rock," he added.
De Dios hopes that people would see the beauty in things that they deserve. "'Yung message ng 'surreal' is makita or ma-feel ng tao 'yung ganda ng buhay na ine-expect nila," he said. "Using your imagination, makikita mo 'yung positive things sa buhay especially when you have someone na parehas kayo ng vision ng nakikita."
