Rochelle Pangilinan receives first Best Supporting Actress award




February 10 ------ Rochelle Pangilinan is over the moon after receiving her first-ever Best Supporting Actress award. The Kapuso actress and Sexbomb Girl was honored at the 10th Platinum Stallion National Media Awards by the Trinity University of Asia for her portrayal of Amalia Dimalanta-Torres, or Tiya Amalia. 

  

“My first Best Supporting Actress award—what a surreal moment!” Rochelle said on Instagram. “Ang award na ‘to ay hindi lang para sa akin, sa lahat ito ng nagtiwala at kumapit kay Tiya Amalia,” she added. “Thank you for embracing her story, her struggles, and her heart." 

  

Throughout her time as Tiya Amalia, Rochelle received positive feedback for her performance. Rochelle was praised for her acting skills, as well as for showcasing Amalia’s character development throughout the show: from being a villainous aunt, to suffering as a comfort woman, and to finally becoming a guerilla fighter. “Pulang Araw,” a historical series about the Japanese occupation in the Philippines, aired its finale in December 2024.
