December 7 ------ Despite coming from a prominent family, Robbie Jaworski doesn’t give in to the pressure of living up to the expectations of the public, saying he wants to carve a path of his own. Robbie, who signed a contract with ABS-CBN’s Star Magic in November, is the son of Pasig Vice Mayor Robert “Dodot” Jaworski and equestrienne-actress Mikee Cojuangco. He is also the grandson of the basketball superstar Robert Jaworski. He is also the grandson of Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr. from a well-known political clan in Tarlac.
The newbie star sees his family’s milestones as an “example” as he explores and discovers what he can offer. “My famous relatives set themselves apart in their own way. ‘Yung sa akin, hindi ko po masyadong hinahambing ang sarili ko sa mga kamag-anak ko,” he said in response to INQUIRER.net’s question in a press conference. “I just see that they provided me with an example and I can choose to follow it in my own way, or I can go my separate way,” he continued.
Prior to entering showbiz, Robbie took up management at the Ateneo de Manila University. He also considers his managerial role at Crowne Plaza as his “day job” while balancing his new responsibilities as a MYX VJ and model for a local clothing brand. “I’m so excited to explore and discover myself more. I am not my father. I am not my lolo. I am me. That is something I’m excited to explore, and I’m confident that I’ll figure it out,” he said. Sometimes, Robbie feels pressure when people come up to him saying that he needs to either be an equestrian, basketball player or politician as a way of following his family’s footsteps. But he would rather see this as a starting point to do his best. “I do feel it’s a good pressure. I feel grateful na pinanganak ako sa isang pamilya na marami silang ginawa at nakaambag sa kanilang komunidad. At least, there’s a very high bar set as an example,” he said. “But most of the time, I’m more concerned with finding my own way, getting to discover who I am, playing if off, and working from there,” he explained.
