April 23 ------ IT was to forget for Pinoy imports in the 2023-24 Japan B.League as their teams succumbed to tough defeats. Thirdy Ravena was once again limited to four points, one rebound, and one assist in San-En NeoPhoenix’s heartbreaking 66-63 loss to SunRockers Shibuya at Aoyama Gakuin Memorial Hall.
The rare back-to-back losses saw the NeoPhoenix slip to 44-12. Matthew Wright could not replicate his heroics the day prior as Kyoto Hannaryz suffered a 73-52 rout at the hands of Saga Ballooners at Shimazu Arena Kyoto. He only had eight points, eight boards, and three assists as they fell to 16-40.
Kai Sotto only had four points, five rebounds, a steal, and a block as Yokohama B-Corsairs bowed to Fighting Eagles Nagoya, 75-65, at Preferential Security Hiratsuka Gymnasium to drop to 22-34. RJ Abarrientos was the only one to taste victory, yet even he was left on the bench in Shinshu Brave Warriors’ 74-73 escape of Toyama Grouses at Toyama City Gymnasium. They improved to 9-47.
Over in B2, Shiga Lakes stumbled to back-to-back defeats to end their elimination campaign after tasting an 82-65 loss to Koshigaya Alphas at Koshigaya City Gymnasium. Kiefer Ravena only tallied eight points, four assists, and a rebound for the Lakes which ended their campaign at 44-16.
