March 6 ------ THE PVL’s inaugural six-team All-Filipino Conference play-in tournament cast is complete, with the first two quarterfinals matchups also set. A shell-shocked Cignal will be forced to take the long way round in the play-ins against Capital1 and ZUS Coffee in Pool A. Winner of Pool A will take the 7-seed to set up a best-of-three quarterfinals battle with red-hot Petro Gazz currently on a league-best 10-game win streak. Meanwhile, Chery Tiggo will duke it out over in Pool B with Farm Fresh and Nxled for the 8-seed.
The reward? Taking on defending champion and PVL dynasty Creamline in the quarters. While the waiting game begins for Creamline and Petro Gazz, the first four outright quarterfinalists now have their respective matchups set. Upset-conscious 3-seed Galeries Tower will play 6-seed Akari while 4-seed PLDT will lock horns with their prelims tormentor in 5-seed Choco Mucho.
Play-in action will begin on Thursday at the Philsports Arena with ZUS Coffee and Cignal launching Pool A hostilities at 4 p.m. followed by Chery Tiggo and Nxled in Pool B at 6:30 p.m.
