November 15 ------ Creamline remained unbeaten, sweeping F2 Logistics, 25-19, 25-21, 25-16, in the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The Cool Smashers strengthened their hold of the top spot after dispatching the Cargo Movers in 85 minutes to improve its immaculate slate to 6-0. “Sobrang saya namin kasi yung preparation namin naging effective yung resulta,” said Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses, who inserted Bernadeth Pons in the lineup in lieu of Michele Gumabao. “Naging maganda, nakakuha kami ng panalo especially, ‘di naman totally bagong first six pero yung mga pinasok ngayong araw nag-deliver naman so masaya kami sa panalong ‘to talaga,” added Meneses.
The Cool Smashers pulled away late in the third set after Kyle Negrito kick-started a 3-0 blast where she scored off a 1-2 play and an ace which put her side ahead, 20-12. Creamline ran off from there as Jeanette Panaga, Michele Gumabao, and Pons delivered the crucial attacks to seal the victory. Tots Carlos top scored for the Rebisco-backed squad with 15 points built on 14 attacks to go along with 11 excellent digs while Jema Galanza added 11 points on 11 attacks laced with six excellent receptions. Panaga, who recorded two aces in the win, finished with seven points while Pons contributed seven markers as well to go along with seven excellent digs. Negrito, meanwhile, continued to impress and tallied 20 excellent sets along with seven points for the Cool Smashers.
Creamline team captain Alyssa Valdez was not inserted into the match. The Cool Smashers will return on Saturday to face PLDT in Cagayan de Oro at 6:00 p.m. No player from the Cargo Movers’ side reached double digits in scoring with Jolina Dela Cruz leading the way with eight points along with six excellent receptions. Ara Galang and Majoy Baron had seven points apiece while Ivy Lacsina, the team’s leading scorer, was limited to just three markers. Myla Pablo, who missed the team’s last two games, finally made her return but was held scoreless after two sets of play for F2 Logistics, who slid to 4-3 in the standings.
The Cargo Movers will look to bounce back against Cignal on Thursday, 4:00 p.m. at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
