PJMCC hosts MSAP 2024 Appreciation Luncheon


As part of expressing their gratitude, the Philippine-Japan Manning Consultative Council (PJMCC) hosted an Appreciation Luncheon for the 45 Maritime Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs) that voluntarily participated in the Maritime Schools Assessment Program (MSAP) 2024 for Deck and Engine Examinations as part of their commitment to promote excellence and further improve the quality of maritime education in the country. PJMCC also recognized and honored the Top 10 MHEIs for their outstanding performance in the MSAP 2024 Deck and Engine Examinations based on the highest overall Mean Scaled Ability Scores of their examinees. This was held on September 27, 2024 at the Multipurpose Hall, 6th Floor, IMMAJ-PJMCC Training Center, JSU-AMOSUP Mariners’ Home, 1765 Vasquez corner Nakpil St., Malate, Manila.


The event started with the welcome remarks of Captain Juanito G. Salvatierra, Chairman of the PJMCC Education & Training Committee. He expressed his gratitude to all top-performing participating schools in MSAP and gave a powerful message to everyone at the event: "We hope our collaboration will continue to flourish in the years to come to achieve our shared vision to produce maritime professionals in our industry."


PJMCC President Capt. Emmanuel L. Regio and PJMCC Corporate Secretary Mr. Ericson M. Marquez, presented the Certificates of Appreciation to 9 participating schools in the event, namely, Baliwag Maritime Academy, Bicol Merchant Marine Inc., Central Luzon College of Science and Technology—San Fernando, Cristal E-College, Dr. Carlos S. Lanting College, Midway Maritime Foundation Inc., Philippine Merchant Marine School—Las Piñas, PIMSAT Colleges Dagupan, and West Bay Colleges. To further show their support, PJMCC also gave away some books and DVDs as additional learning and reference materials to the 9 participating schools.


Mr. Marquez gave a short message and expressed his gratitude to all participating schools for their outstanding performance in the assessment program. Of the 45 schools, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) recognized 44 to offer BS Marine Transportation, and 36 were recognized to offer BS Marine Engineering.


Next in the program was the recognition of the Top 10 MSAP participating schools. Mr. Marquez, Capt. Salvatierra, and special guest MARINA Maritime Education and Training Standard Supervisor of METSS, Ms. Presca Lee B. Lugo presented the Plaques of Recognition for Deck Examinations to Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific, MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy, John B. Lacson University (AREVALO), Capitol University, Southwestern College of Maritime, B&T, University of Cebu (METC), DMMA College of Southern Philippines, University of Antique, University of Cebu (Lapu-Lapu) and Mandaue, PMI Colleges Quezon City.


Right after, the Plaques of Recognition for Engine Examinations were presented to Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific, MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy, DMMA College of Southern Philippines, Mapua Malayan Colleges Laguna, John B. Lacson University (MOLO), John B. Lacson Colleges (Bacolod City), University of Cebu (METC), Our Lady of Fatima University, University of Perpetual Help System (DALTA-LLP, University of Antique. Aside from the plaques, PJMCC also gave away iPads preloaded with IMMAJ ebooks and training videos to the schools.


On behalf of Capt. Emmanuel L. Regio, PJMCC Assistant Treasurer Ms. Carmen B. Rebusi concluded the program by congratulating all MSAP participating schools and thanking them for inspiring others and sharing best practices to continue developing competent Filipino Mercher Marine officers around the world.
