June 13 ------ THE Philippines ended its Fifa World Cup 2026 qualifiers campaign with a 2-0 loss to Indonesia on Tuesday at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.
Thom Haye and Rizky Ridho scored in the 32nd and 56th minute, respectively, to deal the Philippines its fifth defeat in Group F of the second round joint qualifiers for the World Cup 2026 and Asian Cup 2027. The win also enabled Indonesia to advance to the third and final round of the World Cup qualifiers. The Filipino booters came up with only a point after a draw against the same Indonesia team, 1-1, last November at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
All is not lost for the Filipinos, however, as they will still compete in the third round of qualifiers in the AFC Asian Cup 2027.
