MANILA, October 15 ------ PhilHealth has increased its hemodialysis benefit package to P6,350 per session, making coverage for patients reach almost P1 million per year. In a statement, the health insurer noted that a chronic kidney disease stage 5 (CKD5) patient is now entitled to a maximum of P990,600 in financial protection per year, from the previous P624,000 per year.
PhilHealth raised the hemodialysis package to P4,000 per session in July, but president and CEO Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. said they received reports that some patients are still paying significant amounts for their dialysis sessions. PhilHealth said its Circular No. 2024-0023 has been in effect since October 7.
The state insurance agency also said its circular specified the services that must be provided to CKD5 patients, like anti-coagulation medicines, medicines for the management of anemia, laboratory tests, supplies such as dialyzers, hemodialysis solutions, and a dialysis kit per session. The circular also includes administrative fees for the use of dialysis machines, facility fees, utilities, and staff time.
