MANILA, January 11 ------ K-pop star IU, Korean film “Decision to Leave” and the Filipino movie “When The Waves Are Gone (Kapag Wala Nang Mga Alon)” bagged nominations at the 16th Asian Film Awards, which will be held on March 12 at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium in Hong Kong.
A total of 30 films from 22 countries and regions got nominated this year in 16 categories. Korean director Park Chan-wook’s “Decision to Leave” emerged as the most nominated film with 10 followed by the Japanese film “Drive My Car” with eight and India’s “Ponniyin Selvan: I” with six. Filipino director Lav Diaz’s “When The Waves Are Gone (Kapag Wala Nang Mga Alon)” is nominated for Best Film along with “Decision To Leave,” “Drive My Car,” “Poet” and “Ponniyin Selvan: Part I.” It stars John Lloyd Cruz, Ronnie Lazaro and Shamaine Buencamino.
IU, also known as Lee Ji-eun, is nominated for Best Newcomer for the film “Broker” along with Louise Wong for “Anita,” Yang En You for “Lighting Up the Stars,” Park Ji-min for “Return to Seoul” and Mak Pui Tung for “The Sparring Partner.” Here are some of the nominees at the 16th Asian Film Awards:
