February 7 ------ The Philippines inched closer to a possible spot in the semifinals of the curling mixed doubles event after defeating Kazakhstan, 11-2, in the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China.

The victory of Curling Pilipinas' Kathleen Dubberstein and Marc Pfister put the Philippines at second in Group B, 4-1, behind China who finished the round robin with a 5-0 win-loss card. With China clinching the top spot, the host country directly qualified to the semifinals. South Korea, meanwhile, finished third with a 3-2 record to also qualify for the playoffs. Prior to the Kazakhstan win, Dubberstein and Pfister defeated Korea (12-6), Kyrgyzstan (10-2), and Qatar (11-3), but fell to China, 9-6.

In Group A, Japan clinched the outright semis spot with a 5-0 record, while Hong Kong (4-1) and Chinese Taipei (3-2) followed. With the victory, the Philippines will face Chinese Taipei in the semis qualifier set on Friday morning, hours before Dubberstein joins speed skater Peter Groseclose as the country's flag bearer in the opening ceremony at night.
