February 20 ------ Paula Vitug, an aspiring lawyer, has been crowned Miss Philippine Youth Tourism 2025. "As a titleholder, it's my advocate to campaign for better tourism in the country. So I will be circling the country and advocate that I do my best," said Paula during an interview in Quezon City recently. She was crowned during the pageant held in January.
Paula is a freshman at Ateneo De Manila University, pursuing a BS in Legal Management. This native Kapampangan teen plans to study Law after completing her current course at this prestigious university. The 17-year-old stunner said that she was really interested in volleyball, but her grandparents encouraged her to participate in pageantry. "I tried because it's something different. Now I love it."
When asked if her pageant debut would pave the way for bigger pageants, Paula said: "I'm hoping for the best. Something is cooking. Beauty pageants for women are still relevant because they are given chances and opportunities. They can show whatever they have." Paula said her current advocacy focuses on sustainable development for the environment and helping the poor. "My family has been helping the poor ever since I was young. Growing up, I saw its importance, and I wanted to pursue it," she said. "And then we really need to save our environment." Among beauty queens, Paula said she admires Miss Universe Catriona Gray for her beauty, communication skills, and serving the poor.
As titleholder, Paula is expected to work with the Kabataang Sama-samang Maglilingkod, Inc. (KASAMA Inc.) spearheaded by its founder and president, Gerald D. Ortiz, a seasoned politician and a former five-term board member of the fourth district of Quezon Province. KASAMA Inc. organizes the annual Mr. and Miss Philippine Youth pageant, a premier youth-based organization that goes beyond traditional beauty contests to focus on empowering young individuals to become the future leaders of society. With a strong emphasis on character, values, and leadership, this distinguished event is a search for outstanding individuals who embody integrity, vision, and the passion to inspire positive change.
"The Mr. and Ms. Philippine Youth seeks to identify and nurture the future leaders who will shape the nation through their vision, determination, and innovative ideas," said Gerald. He added: "The program has a proven track record of producing successful individuals who excel not just in their respective fields but also in uplifting their communities and the nation. "Mr. and Ms. Philippine Youth is more than a title—it’s a mission to empower, inspire, and shape the youth into transformative leaders with values that resonate far beyond the competition. "It’s a celebration of character, leadership, and the limitless potential of the Filipino youth."
