February 7 ------ “Palagi,” by TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan was honored by Billboard Philippines as its No. 1 song of 2024. On the third night of TJ’s Sarili Nating Mundo concert at the Araneta Coliseum last February 3, the power couple was presented with a plaque by the music publication and music chart provider.
According to Billboard Philippines, the award was for "Palagi" as it sat in number 1 position of the year-end Philippines Hot 100 and Top Philippine Songs charts, beating out other major hit songs, like “Sining” by Dionela and Jay R and “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter. Billboard said accumulated statistics reveal “Palagi” spent a total of 17 weeks in the top 10 of the charts. The Billboard Philippines Year-End charts measure total streams, airplay impressions, and sales units from every week of the year.
“Our year-end charts highlight songs and artists that defined the soundtrack of the year, revealing the types of music that resonated most with Filipino audiences, shedding light on consumer preferences to showcase the growing importance of streaming over traditional sales or the continued relevance of an artist or their songs over the past twelve months,” Billboard Philippines said. “Palagi,” an acoustic love song, is all about choosing someone again and again, even when things get hard. “Palagi” gained extra popularity when it was used as the theme song for “Hello, Love, Again,” and with various artists covering it in recent months.
