Pagdanganan finishes second in Ascendant LPGA, pockets P8.1 million

November 9 ------ Bianca Pagdanganan fired a blistering 6-under-par 65 to finish at joint second in the Ascendant LPGA in The Colony, Texas. Trailing eventual champion Korean Hyo Joo Kim by eight strokes heading to the final round, Pagdanganan highlighted her performance with six birdies on the back nine to catch up at the leaderboard. Still, the 25-year-old Tokyo Olympian was unable to close the gap on Kim.

Pagdanganan, who shot 70 in her first three rounds, posted a 9-under 275 to finish four strokes behind Kim. The Quezon City native tied with Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul and pocketed $143,411 (around P8.1 million) in this 72-hole tournament. Pagdanganan’s feat eclipsed her previous best finish of third place just last week at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.

Meanwhile, Kim shot a 69 for 271 to capture the title. Dottie Ardina, for her part, fumbled with a 73 for an even-par 284 at joint 24th. She went home with $16,746 (around P950,000).
