MANILA, Philippines, November 19 ------ Two individuals were reportedly missing, while over 1.8 million individuals nationwide were affected by the combined effects of the last three weather disturbances that hit the country, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
In its latest data, the NDRRMC reported that 1,822,343 people or 473,016 families were affected by Typhoon Nika (international name: Toraji), Typhoon Ofel (international name: Usagi), and now Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi). Of this figure, 688,062 were displaced with 441,476 staying inside 2,569 evacuation centers nationwide, while 246,786 took shelter elsewhere. Additionally, the NDRRMC said that 183 areas in Region 1 (Ilocos), Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), Region 3 (Central Luzon), and Region 5 (Bicol) were flooded.
Nika exited the country’s boundary last November 12, while Ofel left the Philippine area of Responsibility (PAR) on November 17.
