March 17 ------ ONE Championship's already impressive roster of Muay Thai and Kickboxing champions just got even more stacked with the recent addition of Australian Muay Thai legend John Wayne "The Gunslinger" Parr.
The 43-year old Parr announced his signing with the Singapore-based martial arts promotion after cornering Rocky Ogden in the co-main event of ONE: KING OF THE JUNGLE back in February. Ogden, the boyfriend of Parr's daughter Jasmine, battled but lost to Sam-A Gaiyanghadao for the Inaugural ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Championship.
Throughout his legendary career, Parr has faced the likes of Mike Zambidis, Duane "Bang" Ludwig, Buakaw, and Jean-Charles Skarbowsky. Under the ONE Championship umbrella, Parr has the chance to rekindle rivalries against the likes of Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex, Daniel Dawson, Dzabar Askerov, and Cosmo Alexandre.
Parr's ONE debut will likely have to wait however, given that the current COVID-19 pandemic has affected sporting events all over the world, including ONE Championship. ONE has announced however, that they will continue to put on fights, albiet in a closed-door, audience-free setting beginning this April.
