MANILA, March 19 ------ The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will soon extend its operating hours at night by at least one hour following an order from Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.
In a statement on Monday evening, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said they are awaiting further instructions on the measure and its exact schedule of implementation. "The transport chief likewise directed the MRT-3 to deploy additional trains during peak hours," it said.
To date, the last trains of the MRT-3 leave North Avenue and Taft Avenue stations at 9:30 p.m. and 10:09 p.m., respectively. On the other hand, the first MRT-3 trains leave the said stations at 4:30 a.m. and 5:05 a.m., respectively
Dizon made the order during an inspection of the MRT-3 at the Taft, Ayala, and Shaw Stations. During the inspection, he spoke with several MRT-3 passengers to gather suggestions on improving the train's services.
