Meralco Bolts' comeback vs Seoul SK Knights falls just short in EASL

December 28 ------ THE Meralco Bolts suffered a heartbreaking 81-80 home loss to the Seoul SK Knights at the PhilSports Arena - a big blow to their bid for a berth in the Final Four of the EASL Home and Away Season. Import Jameel Warney led the way for the Knights with 31 points, seven rebounds and six assists while An Youngjun added 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc as the visiting team improved to 2-2 (win-loss).

The Knights' Filipino import, Juan Gomez de Liano, had four points and one assist in over four minutes of play, sitting out the entire second half. The Bolts played catch-up for most of the game but got one final chance to steal the win behind a late fightback. But they let it slip away as import Prince Ibeh failed to collar a Chris Banchero pass, leading to a turnover. Zach Lofton topscored with 32 points for the Bolts, who, at 1-3 (win-loss), need to sweep their last two games and hope the other teams in the group fade to have a shot at making the playoff round.

Meralco next hosts group leader New Taipei Kings on January 3, also at the PhilSports Arena.
