March 20 ------ Marian Rivera just received another recognition for her unforgettable performance as Teacher Emmy in "Balota." The Kapuso Primetime Queen was hailed Best Actress in the 10th Southeast Asian Awards for the 2024 Cinemalaya film directed by Kip Oebanda.
In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras" Tuesday, Marian shared that she feels overwhelmed that she still gets recognized for "Balota." "Na-o-overwhelm ako kasi parang akala ko last year natapos na pero habang itong taon na pumapasok ay meron pang dumadagdag na mga recognition kay 'Balota,'" she shared. The awarding ceremony is set for May 17 at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel.
The recognition couldn't come at a better time than Women's Month as Marian's memorable portrayal of the courageous and upright Teacher Emmy is one for the books. She also shared her reminders for her fellow women this Women's Month, which is to remain strong and to love themselves. "Manatili kayong matatag, manatili kayong maganda. Manatili kayong alam niyo 'yung mahalin niyo 'yung sarili niyo at wag niyong pababayaan kasi alam mo, at the end of the day, kailangan mahal muna natin nang buo 'yung sarili natin bago tayo magmahal ng iba," she said.
In December 2024, Marian won Best Actress at the Cinemalaya 2024 for "Balota." It was an award that she shared with Gabby Padilla. She also bagged Best Actress in a Film for the "Balota" at the 2024 TAG Victorious Awards Chicago in January. In February, she received the People of the Year 2025 trophy from PeopleAsia magazine.
