Maki announces full-length album 'KOLORCOASTER', unveils 'Bughaw' music video

MANILA, March 14------ Singer-songwriter Maki continues his artistic journey through colors with the release of the official music video for his latest single, "Bughaw." The launch event not only celebrated the visual counterpart of the song, but also gave Maki the opportunity to explain his fascination with color-themed titles in his music. “So ako, I conceptualized it as experiencing love in different colors,” Maki shared, referencing his past hits "Dilaw" and "Namumula." “'Bughaw,' the song, was a surprise from my concert, the Maki Concert. And ngayon, ini-release naman namin 'yung music video, and it’s finally here. I’m so glad that you guys get to see the things we’ve worked on for like a month or two.”

When asked about the significance of "Bughaw," Maki described it as the final piece in his trilogy of color-inspired love songs. “A love that lasts forever,” he said. “Kasi I thought of 'Dilaw,' isang klase ng love. 'Namumula' is a passionate, obsessive love. And this one, I needed to end the trilogy with a concept that people should understand na kahit hindi natin kasama ang best people sa buhay natin ngayon, darating ‘yung mga taong mananatili sa atin forever.”

The theme of permanence and lasting love is a stark contrast to his previous songs, making "Bughaw" a poignant conclusion to his color-coded storytelling. Beyond writing and performing, Maki revealed that he took an active role in directing parts of the "Bughaw" music video. “This is a very dream-come-true moment for me kasi I got to direct most of the parts of the music video,” he shared. “It was hard at first kasi it’s a new realm I’m trying to explore, but at the same time, I enjoyed it. And I know it’s gonna be something I wanna do for a long time.”

Fans of Maki won’t have to wait long for more music, as he officially announced his first-ever full-length album, "KOLORCOASTER." “It’s gonna be a hell of a ride. Sobrang daming effort na binigay dito. So, it’s gonna be an album full of colors, of course. But it’s something na songs that you’ve never heard me write before or heard me sing before. It’s gonna be very fresh. You’re gonna see a whole new concept," he explained.
