February 15 ------ The love month celebrates all forms of love and relationships, although we have a particular day to honor our moms, dads, grandparents and friends. “Love Fest@Hacienda Isabella,” with Kuh Ledesma and daughter Isabella as main artists, on Feb. 15, revolves around such an idea that the annual event is simply a celebration of love. “It isn’t just for couples. It’s a celebration of love in all its forms,” shared Kuh to The STAR in an e-mail interview with her and daughter Isabella. “It’s not only about a husband, wife, or romantic partner, it’s about cherishing the people who matter most.”
As for Isabella, she added, “I love to celebrate the fact that there are people in our lives that love and care for us and why not take hold of this month to let them know you love and appreciate them, too.” Aside from having a special dinner to talk about love and what it truly means, like family and friends could also do this love month, Kuh shared a tradition some may consider doing next year. “We also have a tradition of exchanging gifts. Isabella, being the generous soul that she is, always gives hers early. So, I already have two from her,” said the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icon. So, Kuh and Isabella is a picture of a mother-and-daughter tandem that finds time for each other and shares similar interests. They are also into architecture, interior design, painting, watching movies, attending Bible classes and trying out new restaurants.
Asked about their thoughts on ways to nurture a child-parent relationship? Kuh answered, “It takes love and effort. Spending quality time is important. We do Bible classes together, watch movies and dine out. Being there for each other and (having) an open communication are significant factors in nurturing any relationship. There should be mutual respect and understanding. And the most important of all, we keep God at the center of our relationship to guide us and to give us patience and forgiveness.”
Isabella, for her part, shared, “We make time to pray with each other. We do Bible studies now with each other again. We seek counseling from people that are more mature than us Biblically. We walk and prayer walk together. We live together and dream things up together as well. And movie nights! And we go out and have mother-daughter dates, where we eat at a yummy restaurant or café! When I was a kid we would bike together, too, I hope we do that again!” For “Love Fest,” Kuh and Isabella will display their love for music and gift to tell stories through songs. “This is the first time that two shows are coming together as one. My show featuring Thor Valiente called ‘Love & Thunder!’ and Mama’s show, featuring Jack Salud called, ‘Only Love!’ said Isabella. “I’ve got songs that span from the 1940s till the glam rock goodness of the 1990s and Mama’s songs go from Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars to Barbra Streisand and everything romantic and good. So, it’s really gonna be a fun and romantic night.” In ‘Only Love,’ Manuel Escueta is also a guest artist.
Since it’s love month, Isabella was also asked to give her two cents’ worth on love. “I’ve learned that though it is a small word it is one with greater meaning and depth,” said she. “Have you heard those words that say, ‘Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” “It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. That’s from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8,” continued she.
