March 12 ------ Kris Bernal opened up about how her mother's unwavering love and sacrifices have shaped her own journey as a first-time mom. Raised by a single mother, Kris shared how deeply her mom’s dedication influenced her parenting style. "Talagang binigay hundred percent ng nanay ko lahat ng energy niya, buo niya, ako feel ko wala ng natira sa kanya. So iyon 'yung gusto kong makuha sa mommy ko," she said in an interview with Boy Abunda. "Nakita ko 'yung sacrifices niya sa amin."
When asked how she would describe herself as a mother, Kris replied: "Siguro the best word that describes me as a mom... selfless. And I also became more patient," she stated.
Kris gave birth to her first child with non-showbiz partner Perry Choi, Hailee Licca, in August 2023. "Let me tell you a story, SHE’S FINALLY HERE. “15 days with our #LittleSunshine, @haileelucca! “And, it has been the most magical days of our lives. After the longest pregnancy and hardest labor, I would do it over so many times to meet my #LittleSunshine," she wrote back in 2023 on Instagram upon welcoming her daughter.
She also described the overwhelming love she has felt since becoming a mother. "The bond between a mother and child is one of the strongest in existence. I’m so in love!! “It is a kind of love that is never understood until it happens to you. My heart is so full and becoming a mother is the most rewarding and beautiful thing in my life. Last New Year's Eve, Kris took to social media to reflect on her journey in the past year as a mother. "It has been the most transformative, beautiful, fulfilling year of my life. I embraced the most incredible journey of all: becoming a mom," she wrote on her Instagram page. "As someone who has always prioritized her career, fitness, health, and self care, this experience taught me a whole new meaning of strength - both physical and emotional." She went on: "Motherhood - some days I rock it. Some days it rocks me. Either way, we are rockin' “Here's to motherhood, growth, and everything we can achieve - together - this 2025!"
