December 18 ------ As one of the performers in her dad Gary Valenciano’s repeat concert Gary V Pure Energy: One More Time happening on December 20 and 22, US-based artist Kiana Valenciano said she is excited to be back in the country and be part of the show which also includes her older brothers Paolo and Gab as director and performer respectively. The 30-year-old singer admitted there are challenges to working with her parents and siblings in a concert. “Work doesn’t end. It doesn’t end! We’re like family breakfast, family lunch, dinner, we’re all just talking about it. It’s very hard to shut off. But I think it’s fun too. However, the challenge there is that you don’t turn your brain off. So you’re like after a week, you ask yourself, why am I so fatigued? And then you realize we’ve been working pala 24/7. We’ve just been challenging our brains nonstop for days. We’re all very different,” she shared during an intimate press gathering held earlier this month.
Gary's only daughter said her father inspired her to compose songs for him that have yet to be released. “I have written him a couple of songs. It’s just a matter of putting out the final product. I think being in the studio with him is a lot of fun. The very first time I was in the studio with him was when I was six years old when we recorded a Christmas song and then a big, big jump later, I released my first single which was ‘Circles’ and I was bawling my eyes out because it was my first major breakup and that was an experience in itself and I think that he understands my limitations and he knows how to push past them. So working with him in the studio is a thing I want to do again,” she recalled.
After the successful run of Pure Energy One Last Time last April and May, Kiana said their last two shows before the year ends will be even more exciting for concert goers and longtime fans of Gary V. “I’ll be opening the show on December 20 so I’ll be able to share my original music as well as 'Sana,' which pays tribute to both my parents. I think it’s going to be more energetic because we also got close to everyone involved in the show, the entourage, the A Team, the crew, everyone in production. We spent so much time together in April when we were mounting the first one. So now it’s a bit of a reunion and a goodbye and a celebration of the holidays and the year that’s passed. I think all that energy is going to come forward,” she added.
Kiana said that having P-pop group SB19 on their lineup of performers is a definite highlight of the show. “SB19’s impact is crazy. On a global scale we listen to their music, we hear about their music so to me, this collaboration with our dad just makes sense,” she said.
The first night’s guest performers include A-Team, BGYO, Gab Valenciano, Joshua Zamora, Manoeuvres, Rayver Cruz, Maymay Entrata, Ebe Dancel, Ice Seguerra, Ogie Alcasid, and Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez while the December 22 show includes AC Bonifacio, A-Team, Gab Valenciano, Kiana V, Joshua Zamora, Manoeuvres, W3, Filipino rap legend Gloc-9, OPM icon Jay Durias, and SB19. Apart from having a busy concert weekend before celebrating Christmas with her family, Kiana also shared her birthday wish as she turns 31 on December 21. “I really hope for growth and growth that comes naturally without resistance. Because my challenge in my life has always been that I have been a bit of a rebel towards myself. And that internal resistance is quite challenging. So with all the changes that are about to happen, I hope that I am able to take everything in with grace and patience for myself and a lot of love. That’s what I want for my birthday. For my parents, I’m here because of both of them. I wish for them to have time to slow down and smell the flowers because it’s really cliche but it’s something that I think a lot of people in our industry and in families that are heavily in show business forget to do which is just to put the phones away, shut the world out, and just enjoy the present moment. That’s my wish for them,” she shared.
