MANILA, Philippines, November 13 ------ It seems like Jordan Heading’s visit in Game 1 of the PBA Governors’ Finals was a setup for something big, after all. After having said that he was only in town to enjoy the clash between Ginebra and TNT in Antipolo, Heading will finally be making his debut in the PBA. However, it won’t be for Terrafirma, the team who drafted him and initially had his rights.
A deal approved by the league’s Commissioner’s office on Tuesday confirmed that Heading will be shipped to the Converge FiberXers in exchange for Aljun Melecio, Keith Zaldivar and a future first-round pick. “Deal sealed! Welcome to the Converge FiberXers, Jordan Heading,” wrote the team in a Facebook post.
Heading was drafted by Dyip in the 2020 Gilas draft but never suited up for Terrafirma as he went on to several professional leagues in Japan, Taipei and Australia. Most recently, the deadeye sniper played for Philippine-side Strong Group Athletics in the 43rd William Jones Cup in Taipei, where they won gold under coach Charles Tiu. Heading is expected to suit up for the FiberXers in the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup, which starts in a few weeks post writing.
