In a press conference, Ward opened up about what drew her to the project saying, "The first thing I really noticed was the culture of the Ilonggo people. My mother's side is Ilonggo, and they are indeed very affectionate. They are super welcoming, great cooks, and as they say, if she's Ilongga, she's beautiful! Also, I learned in Iloilo that falling in love is truly wonderful." For Ward, the series is a chance to showcase the beauty and richness of Ilonggo culture, something rarely explored in mainstream media. "What's important to me right now is that we represent the Ilonggo people. From what I know, this is the first show that truly represents Iloilo. For me, that's the most important thing," she shared.
After two and a half years of portraying emotionally heavy roles, Ward is embracing the lighthearted and feel-good nature of a romantic comedy. "This one is more about the thrill and lightheartedness. It's easygoing. What's important to me right now is that we can spread good vibes and represent the Ilonggo people," Ward explained.
Directed by Conrado Peru, "My Ilonggo Girl" explores the intriguing concept of doppelgängers. Tata's unexpected entry into Venice's world leads to hilarious situations and heartwarming moments, with Ilonggo culture serving as the backdrop. The show's powerhouse cast includes Michael Sager, Teresa Loyzaga, Arra San Agustin, Lianne Valentin, and Arlene Muhlach, alongside talented actors Empoy Marquez, Yasser Marta, Richard Quan, Andrea del Rosario, Vince Maristela, Patricia Ismael, Yesh Burce, youngsters Sabreenika Santos, Geo Mhanna, and veteran actress Carla Martinez.
