Heart Evangelista, Kyline Alcantara reunite for breast cancer awareness

October 25 ------ Kapuso stars Heart Evangelista and Kyline Alcantara reunited to lead a an assembly of people from different parts of the country in marking the Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is observed every October to remind the world about the most common cancer among women, and to help spread awareness on how to manage it and prevent it. “What time were you up? This is so amazing for us to be here, to stand together, to create awareness for breast cancer. This means the world for everybody here, so thank you so much for showing up,” Evangelista addressed the crowd, many of whom showed up as early as 5 A.M. “Now I want to take a moment to thank everybody for standing up with us for today, and of course for showing support. Your support means the world to all of us, and of course, to those who need it the most,” continued the fashionista at the event mounted by a global beauty brand.

Alcantara, who spoke to INQUIRER.net at the sidelines of the event, said, “prevention is really key, just like right now [for] breast cancer. Early detection is really important because breast cancer is the reality, it’s really happening.” And even if Alcantara lost her grandparents to a different medical condition, spreading awareness in preventing breast cancer can also encourage people to avoid others diseases by developing habits that promote health and wellness, she said. “My grandprents who were really close to me were scared to visit hospitals. They actually don’t believe in it, because we live in the province, in Bicol. If we had them checked up early, they would still be with us today,” she shared.

Evangelista, meanwhile, was on the opposite end of the spectrum. “Honestly, every day I have a health scare. I have major anxiety. But sometimes you have to see the good and the bad. I am super self aware, so I get my self checked once a year. So it’s very important that you do that,” she said.
