GMA and FPJ Productions, Inc. ink historic partnership to honor Da King's legacy

December 4 ------ GMA Network and FPJ Productions, Inc. inked a historic partnership to honor and commemorate the life and legacy of the late National Artist For Film Fernando Poe, Jr. A contract signing ceremony was held today, December 3, at the GMA Network Center boardroom. It was attended by Kapuso executives and officers from FPJ Productions, Inc. and relatives of the King of Philippine Movies, dearly known to his fans as "Da King."

GMA President and CEO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., GMA Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, and GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Program Management Ma. Concepcion R. Agnes were present in the event. Da King's daughter, Senator Grace Poe; and her son, Brian Poe Llamanzares; FPJ Productions, Inc. President Jeffrey Stevens Sonora; FPJ Productions Vice President and Corporate Secretary; and Treasurer Joseph Sonora were the representatives from the FPJ studio.

Former Chairperson of the Philippines' Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) Atty. Eugenio "Toto" Villareal also graced the momentous occasion. Through this partnership, the digitally restored movies starring FPJ will be aired on GMA Network via FPJ sa GMA. This coincides with the 20th death anniversary of the late legendary action star who starred in hundreds of films, spanning from 1955 to 2003. The partnership also marks the return of the FPJ classics to its original home on TV, GMA, which first acquired the TV rights to the films of Da King in the '80s.
