December 10 ------ Fuel retailers are set to implement mixed adjustments on pump prices this week, with those of gasoline set to be hiked for the third straight week, while those of diesel and kerosene will be rolled back for the second. In separate advisories, Chevron Philippines Inc. (Caltex), Petron Corp., Seaoil Philippines Corp., and Shell Pilipinas Corp. said they will increase prices per liter of gasoline by P0.40, while reducing those of diesel by P0.50, and kerosene by P0.75.
Cleanfuel, Petro Gazz, PTT Philippines Corp., and Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc. will implement the same changes, excluding kerosene which they do not carry. The changes will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, for all the firms except for Cleanfuel which will adjust prices at 12:01 a.m. the same day. Other firms have yet to make similar announcements for the week.
The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) earlier projected a hike for gasoline and a rollback for both diesel and kerosene this week, citing uncertainties in the geopolitical climate in the Middle East, the anticipated output hike delays, the bearish demand for 2025, and the strengthening of the US dollar. Firms last week hiked prices per liter of gasoline by P0.90, while rolling back those of diesel by P0.20, and kerosene by P0.40.
Year-to-date adjustments stood at a net increase of P10.45 per liter for gasoline and P9.75 per liter for diesel, and a net decrease of P1.50 per liter for kerosene as of November 26, 2024.
