From reality TV to the big screen: PBB stars shine bright in these 8 films

February 7 ------ With chatter about a new exciting season of the reality competition show “Pinoy Big Brother”, it's only fitting to look back on some of the franchises’ biggest stars! Apart from making a name for themselves as the authentic and inspiring housemates and hosts of Philippine television’s most famous house, these PBB stars also have the acting chops to boot.

Revisit the films of Kuya's proud alumni in some of their most popular Star Cinema works below!

Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco in ‘The Adventures of Pureza: Queen of the Riles’

The “Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up” sweethearts starred in their first ever film together via “The Adventures of Pureza: Queen of the Riles”. In this fairy-tale-like narrative, Melai and Jason bring their comedy A-game to the table as the down-on-their-luck yet strategic best friends Pura and Ruben, whose relationship later develops into something deeper.

Toni Gonzaga in ‘Starting Over Again’

With time healing wounds and working wonders for your career, what happens when your first love falls right back into your life after your breakup? In the tear-jerking “Starting Over Again”, Toni plays established architect Ginny who rekindles her past with the one that got away, her former history professor-turned-chef Marco, played by Piolo Pascual.

Kim Chiu in ‘Bride for Rent’

Kim as the go-getter Rocky enters her biggest side hustle yet in “Bride for Rent” — becoming a fake bride to Xian Lim’s Rocco! With Rocky desperate to accumulate enough money to pay her family’s rent, and Rocco seeking a wife to appease his grandmother Lala (Pilita Corrales), the two put on a show and pretend to be a couple.

Melai Cantiveros in ‘Momshies! Ang Soul Mo'y Akin!’

Melai co-stars as one of the titular momshies Mylene, who undergoes a soul swap involving Jolene (Jolina Magdangal) and Karlene (Karla Estrada) after seemingly making harmless wishes during their respective birthday celebrations. From working hard as an aspiring vlogger to navigating her new reality as the hotel owner Karlene, Mylene’s life instantly changes overnight!

Toni Gonzaga in ‘My Only Ü’

The ticking time bomb that is the terminal illness of Toni’s character Winona threatens to cut short her relationship with Vhong Navarro as Bong. Just as the two begin dating after finally confessing their mutual feelings for one another, Winona’s condition encourages Bong to make the most out of their time left by granting her every wish.

Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson in ‘Paano na Kaya’

It’s tough being friend-zoned, but it’s even more frustrating being set aside after finally getting a chance with your long-time crush! Visual artist Mae (Kim) falls deeply and madly in love with her best friend, the car mechanic Bogs (Gerald) in “Paano na Kaya”. Will Mae’s sincere favors and loyalty to Bogs be enough for him to see her in a different light?

Toni Gonzaga in ‘My Amnesia Girl’

Marking the era of cheeky pick-up lines and its corresponding romantic meet-cutes, “My Amnesia Girl” sees Toni as Irene, a bride who gets left at the altar by John Lloyd Cruz as Apollo. When she crosses paths with him years later at a grocery store, Irene feigns a medical condition that seemingly calls for a clean slate between the two.

Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson in ‘Till My Heartaches End’

Family troubles and career goals, though fostering a connection between them, soon keep Powie (Gerald) and Agnes (Kim) apart in “Till My Heartaches End”. The “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition 1” alums play each other's personal cheerleaders in the movie, but will that be enough for these young professionals to keep their relationship afloat?
