Filipinas to hold training camp, intrasquad exhibition in PH

February 2 ------ The Philippine National Women's Football Team Filipinas will hold a training camp and an intrasquad exhibition match in the country this month. The Philippine Football Federation announced the development on Tuesday, adding that the intrasquad competition set to be played on February 25 at the new Mall of Asia Football Field will culminate the nine-day training camp. “I’m really looking forward to having the Filipinas back in action at home, where the supporters in Manila can get a chance to experience the team up close, in one of the city’s new and exciting football venues,” Filipinas head coach Mark Torcaso said in a statement.

The training camp is part of the team's preparations for major tournaments this year such as the ASEAN Women's Championship, the FIFA Asian Cup Qualifiers, and the Southeast Asian Games. "This camp gives us a great opportunity to continue building the foundation for the way we want to play. We cannot wait to be back home to showcase our Filipinas.”

Previously, the team said it would hold an identification camp in the United States in February as it looks to expand the team's pool. For PFF senior national teams director Freddy Gonzalez, however, the training camp will be a good opportunity to connect the team with its fans and for the players to be fully integrated to Torcaso's system. "Nine days of solid work at home, familiarizing with one another and with Coach Mark's game model will be a great way to start a big 2025 for the Filipinas," said Gonzalez.
