December 14 ------ ONE of the most successful franchises in Philippine volleyball has said goodbye. The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers announced that it ending its eight-year run as a pro volleyball club, saying it will shift its focus to ‘grassroots’ development. In nearly a decade, F2 Logistics won six championships, had four runner-up finishes, and three bronze medals across domestic and international club competitions under the leaderships of Rose Molit-Prochina (2016), Ramil de Jesus (2016 to 2021), Benson Bocboc (2022), and Regine Diego (2023).
As a flagship team of the now-defunct Philippine Superliga (PSL) and a subsequent Premier Volleyball League (PVL) extension team concurrent to its shift as a pro league, the Cargo Movers made the painstaking decision to call it quits, saying ‘time has not been good to us.’ “Time has not been good to us. A number of injuries to our players forced us to take slower steps, prioritizing health over victories in the past few years. “We give our utmost thanks to the coaching staff who have fought and tried to make this team stronger. We would most like to thank Coach Ramil, for continuously heading the team,” the club said.
F2 Logistics’ sporting commitment now turns to the collegiate teams of De La Salle and University of Perpetual Help, with future plans to expand its support nationwide. “While this chapter may be closing, we remain committed to supporting the growth of Philippine volleyball throughout supporting the sport at the grassroots level,” said F2 Logistics. With an eighth-place finish in its PVL swan song as its parting on-court note to fans, the Cargo Movers thanked those who stood by the club through the highs and lows. “The bond we have forged in the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers is one that has stood the test of time and we will continue to be a family long after that this team is gone. We thank you for standing by us and being part of our journey. Your unwavering support has meant the world to us.”
Among notable Cargo Movers who made indelible marks to the sport through the years are Ara Galang, Aby Maraño, Kim Fajardo, Kianna Dy, Kalei Mau, and Dawn Macandili among countless greats. It is not known how the PVL will handle the disbandment and the movement of F2 Logistics' players.
