March 4 ------ The comedy star for all seasons Eugene Domingo revealed on her YouTube channel that she had lost interest in show business as she focused on nourishing herself and finding life outside of the glitz and glamour. During Domingo's sit-down interview with unkabogable box office superstar Vice Ganda for her vlog, she made sure to thank Vice for her newfound spark in entertainment while also mentioning the hit film "And The Breadwinner Is." “[Lumayo] ako sa paggawa ng pelikula. I focused my attention to nurturing myself more. I studied and then I tried to find another life out of showbiz. I was able to enrich my true self,” Domingo said.
Recalling her lost interest, Domingo continued, “I think for a while I was lost. Saan na kaya? Ano na kaya ang gagawin ko? Hindi ako interesado masyado. Wala rin naman ako masyadong offer ng TV. Hindi rin naman ako tumatanggap ng pelikula. Walang na-offer na parang gusto ko. Parang lahat tumahimik — ‘yung hunger ko to create, to connect, to discover something na puwede ko pang i-offer sa industry — and then your movie came along. I was so happy. I was so excited.”
In her vlog, the comedienne and "Pilipinas Got Talent" judge also discussed her friendship with Vice, whom they both described as "long-lost friends." Describing their reunion, Domingo said, “Paano ‘to? Ilang years kaming hindi nagkasama ni Vice. Honestly, in my mind, ang laki-laki mo na. Ang laki mong star. You’re a star. You’re really up there. Diyos ko paano ba ‘to? Bahala na. I just really want to be a part of this.” Vice answered, “‘Yung ngiti niya, para siyang nakakita talaga na ‘yung parang kalaro niya noon na ‘yung long lost friends kasi parang ganoon talaga tayo. Parang long lost friends tayo every time we see each other.”
The award-winning actress is pleased with her close relationship with Vice, revealing that they would video call each other and just look at one other without saying anything. “He's very sweet. Ikaw talaga ‘yung any time of the night, if you're comfortable with a person, tatawag siya kahit wala naman kayong pag-usapan. Minsan, hindi nga kami nag-uusap. Tatawag lang kami sa isa't isa para lang mag-hi. Pagandahan lang kami at natutuwa ako doon sa friendship natin na it's beyond whatever it is that we have achieved in life,” she said. After describing their genuine friendship, Domingo lauded Vice for his strong connection with his fans and enthusiasm for the industry. “Ang dami talagang nanonood ng pelikula ni Vice Ganda. Nakita ko talaga sa lahat ng promo tours namin kung papaano talaga siya sambahin. Literal na sambahin. Nababaliw ‘yung mga tao,” Domingo proudly said.
Vice replied, “Malaking bagay talaga ‘yung 'Showtime' everyday. Kasama nila ako everyday. Kasama nila ‘pag tanghali. Para nila talaga akong kamag-anak. Kasama ako ng buhay nila everyday tapos sila rin pasok na pasok sila sa buhay ko. Alam na alam nila ‘yung nangyayari sa akin, ‘yung journey ko.” Domingo then told the unkabogable superstar that the work he does for his career is a true measure of an artist. “Pareho tayong successful in our own design pero nung nakita ko kung paano mo hina-handle your fans, your career, kahit anong nangyari sa ’yo, lumagapak, na-bash, you're still here, and for me, that is the true measure of a star, that's the true measure of an artist,” she praised Vice. She added, “‘Yun ang sinasabi ko na madaling sumikat pero gaano ka katagal, gaano ka katibay.”
Before moving on to the next segment of her vlog, Domingo thanked Vice again for allowing her to rediscover the spark in her career that had previously been lost, referring to it as her "reborn" era. “Na-affect mo ako. Nag-guest ako sa 'Showtime.' Sinamahan kita sa ilang promo tours mo. Na-affect mo ako. Vice, alam mo, nabuhay ako ulit. Na-appreciate ko ‘yung calling natin. Na-appreciate ko ‘yung love ng audience. Na-appreciate ko ‘yung mga taong gumagasta para mapanood ka sa sine. ‘Yung binigay sa akin na pagkakataon na tingnan mo na after all these years, they still want to see [me] in the movies, they still get [me]. Alam mo, na-appreciate ko dahil sa ‘Breadwinner’ so thank you. Nag-open ako ng vlog. Tinanggap ko lahat ng assignments without any question. Sige, gagawin ko ‘yan. Yes, gagawin ko so busy ako ngayon. I have you to thank all these things that are happening to me right now. Thank you again. The ‘Breadwinner’ experience has brought me parang reborn. Katulad nung ginawa sa ’yo as an actor, nalagyan ka ng ibang dimension, layer,” Domingo expressed.
