Embracing change, 21 years and counting with ABS-CBN

November 14 ------ It's been over two decades since JC de Vera first burst onto the showbiz scene, yet his enthusiasm remains as vibrant as ever. As he takes on a fresh challenge with his new Kapamilya series, "Nobody," JC hints that viewers are in for a surprise with a role that's "definitely different" from what he's done before. "I can't give away much just yet, but this character is interesting, challenging, and something really fresh. Just wait for it," he shared at a solo media conference his talent management group, LVD Entertainment, hosted in his honor at SuperSam in Quezon City. For JC, after 21 years in showbiz, evolving with new roles is crucial, and he's excited to push his boundaries.

A significant part of JC's journey has been his connection to ABS-CBN, which he has also called home for more than 11 years. Fresh from renewing his bi-yearly contract with the network, he is grateful for each continuing term with his Kapamilya family. "Hopefully, it will be forever," JC reflected, adding with a smile, "As they say, JC is forever Kapamilya."

In "Nobody," which will be among ABS-CBN's major opening salvos for 2025, JC's transformation will go beyond character development. While his co-star Gerald Anderson, whom he fondly calls "Kapitan," undergoes firearms training, The T-Zone was able to convince JC to reveal just a little bit more about his role as the interview progressed. He said he is working on physical aspects of his portrayal, hinting at an external makeover to match his new role. "There's something we're changing with the hair, something to look forward to," he teased, leaving fans curious about his upcoming look.

But the transformation doesn't stop there. When the T-Zone complimented the 38-year-old actor for looking younger than ever, JC acknowledged he is fully committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, crediting his workout regimen and disciplined routines to help him stay at his best both on-screen and off. "I work out every day. I don't go out late anymore and no more vices for me," he said, stressing that this dedication isn't only for his career but also for his family. After all, he and his wife, Rikkah Cruz, are preparing to welcome their third child next year. "This will be our last one, whether it's a boy or a girl," JC, who has been blessed with two daughters, chuckled.
