Easterlies, amihan to bring clouds, rains on Monday

MANILA, Philippines, January 20 ------ The easterlies and the northeast monsoon or amihan will bring cloudy skies and rains in several parts of the country on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported.

In a 4 a.m. weather forecast, Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands in Caraga and Davao Oriental.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will continue to bring cloudy skies and light rains in Cagayan Valley and Aurora in Central Luzon, as well as in Quezon province in Southern Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, according to Badrina.

Pagasa did not raise a gale warning in any of the country’s major seaboards on Monday.
