November 5 ------ Dwight Ramos and Levanga Hokkaido completed a weekend sweep against Kiefer Ravena and the Yokohama B-Corsairs following their pair of meetings in the 2024-25 season of the Japan B.League. Levanga, which already defeated Yokohama on Saturday, repeated their triumph through a 77-69 win on Sunday at the Hokkai Kita-yale, to push their record to 4-7.
In just his second game back, Ramos shone the brightest as he posted 19 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a steal in over 25 minutes of gameplay, and this helped Levanga move to fifth in the Eastern Division standings. On the other hand, Yokohama, which fell to 5-6, was helped by Ravena’s 11 markers, four boards, and three dimes. Unfortunately, this is the second straight loss for the newly engaged Kiefer and the B-Corsairs.
Also dealing with its second-straight defeat were Kai Sotto and the Koshigaya Alphas. Despite contributing a decent outing of six points, seven rebounds, and a steal, Koshigaya fell against the Sunrockers Shibuya, 82-59, at the Koshigaya City Gymnasium. This is now the 10th loss of the Alphas in 11 games, and they now sit at eighth in the Eastern Division.
Another Filipino import in Ray Parks Jr. was a victim of two straight losses as the Osaka Evessa faltered against the Ryukyu Golden Kings, 95-84, at the Ookini Arena Maishima. Parks was one of the few bright spots for Osaka as he had 18 markers, three boards, and two dimes, but they fell to 6-5, fourth in the Western Division.
Matthew Wright and the Kawasaki Braves were also on the losing end as they succumbed to the Saga Ballooners, 89-67, at the Saga Arena. Wright had a solid outing of 15 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and four steals, but these all went for naught for they fell to 2-8, eighth in Central Division.
AJ Edu and the Nagasaki Velca also had the same fate after they were defeated by the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, 83-74, at the Happiness Arena Edu had eight markers, nine boards, three rejections, an assist, and a steal. Unfortunately for Nagasaki, this loss pushed them to third in the Western Division with a 6-5 record.
Geo Chiu was the last Filipino who was handed a loss on Sunday as he and the Ehime Orange Vikings were trumped by the Altiri Chiba, 94-85, at the Matsuyama Community Center. The former Ateneo de Manila University big had six points, seven rebounds, two rejections, and one assist, but these weren’t enough as they absorbed their 10th loss in 11 assignments. The Orange Vikings are now seventh in the Western Division.
