Dwight, Edu head home with pair of losses in Japan B.League

February 11 ------ DWIGHT Ramos is now homebound after this weekend’s action in the Japan B.League. The Levanga Hokkaido guard exited the game due to an undisclosed injury and logged only 21 seconds in their 73-68 defeat to Gunma Crane Thunders at Openhouse Arena Ota.

It was the team’s third consecutive loss after a 70-55 setback on Saturday where Ramos nabbed 12 points, three assists, two rebounds, and one steal to fall down to 13-24. Nonetheless, the team allayed fears on Ramos’ status and said that he will be available for Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming February window of the 2025 Fiba Asia Cup qualifiers.

Another Gilas-bound player in AJ Edu didn't do any better as Nagasaki Velca dropped a pair of defeats to Fighting Eagles Nagoya at Nagoyashi Inae Sports Center. The Fil-Cypriot center only played eight minutes and registered a point, three rebounds, and one block in their 89-85 loss on Saturday, before he chimed in nine points, six boards, three steals, and one assist in their 96-65 defeat on Sunday to go down to 16-21.

Ray Parks was the only Filipino to head to the Fiba break on a winning note in the Japan B.League as his Osaka Evessa nabbed back-to-back wins over the weekend. Osaka outlasted a Kai Sotto-less Koshigaya Alphas, 80-77, on Saturday and 77-70 on Sunday at Ookini Arena Maishima to go over 500 anew with its 19-18 record. Parks fired 15 points, five assists, three steals, and two rebounds in the first meeting, before collecting 10 points, four boards, and an assist in the second straight win. Other Filipino imports aren’t as fortunate.

Matthew Wright’s efforts were for naught for Kawasaki Brave Thunders in their pair of losses to Utsunomiya Brex at Brex Arena. He logged 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists in their 92-75 defeat on Saturday, while also putting up 11 points, three boards, two assists, and one steal in their 94-74 rout on Sunday to slide down 12-25. Kiefer Ravena’s Yokohama B-Corsairs also lost to Kyoto Hannaryz, 82-70, on Saturday at Kataoka Arena Kyoto before serving his one-game suspension for incurring two unsportsmanlike fouls on Sunday in their 94-55 defeat. That sent Yokohama to a four-game slide to drop to 14-23.
