Denise Laurel as a mom to Bukie: 'I teach him how to make decisions'

September 7 ------ Denise Laurel shares how she is raising her son Bukie and finding a good balance between parenting and her showbiz career. The actress and host gave birth to Davian Alejandro or Bukie when she was 23 years old.

According to Denise, she wants to raise Bukie without a yaya. As a single mom, she asks for the help of her family when she needs to work. Denise explained the details about motherhood when she appeared as a guest on Camille Prats' YouTube channel on August 30. "I grew up without a yaya, so I wanted him to grow up without a yaya as well. So my parents would watch him while I was at work. I'm still guilty you know, mom guilt, kapag nasa set ka tapos iniisip mo how is he doing? Is he okay? Is he alright, did he eat?" She added that it was her preference to have her parents help in raising him. "The comfort of knowing that it is not a stranger. No offense but everybody has their own way. For me, I just feel like I think less if he's with my mom."

Denise also narrated how she is as a mom and how she explains life lessons to her son. "I think my parents are very respectful din naman of how I raise him where we really talk about everything. I sound annoying at times and I know it, but I would much rather explain to him the reasons for everything, how things work, and why they work that way. Information is everything." She clarified her way of teaching Bukie by explaining how to make his own decisions. "I still want him to find his own way I don't give him the answers. I teach him how to make decisions." For Denise, whatever Bukie's decision is and no matter the outcome, she will only have love for her son. "Whoever you want to be will never diminish my love for you in any way even if you fall down, make mistakes, whatever. I always reassure him that the love only grows and never gets subtracted. "I just take time to give him that love, reassurance, and respect is major," She added.
