Creamline stays unbeaten after opening 2025 with Capital1 sweep

January 22 ------ CREAMLINE didn’t break a sweat in its first game back in 2025 with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-18 sweep of Capital1 in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena. Kyle Negrito orchestrated 14 excellent sets to keep Creamline’s perfect start afloat at 5-0 and their overall win streak to 14 since last year’s Reinforced Conference back in August. The defending champions have now won their last seven year-opening matches since 2018 against the likes of Petro Gazz twice, PLDT, Farm Fresh and now-defunct sides Pacific Town-Army and Sta Lucia.

Creamline’s veteran trio turned back the clock with vintage performances led by Jema Galanza’s double-double of 12 points and 10 digs. Tots Carlos played just two sets in only her second game this season but still managed to fire 10 markers on 50 percent spiking efficiency. Captain Alyssa Valdez who, like Carlos, added seven more points after only playing the first and final frames. Trisha Genesis’ team-high 10-piece and five receptions in her Capital1 debut was spoiled as they drop to 1-5.

Even as the mainstay stars took over for the Cool Smashers today, there's no shortage of trust in the defending champions' stacked 19-woman roster. Valdez and the rest of Creamline's veteran stars might have the lion's share of the limelight, but the captain knows well enough how anyone in her team can deliver and step up to the plate when called upon. In her own words, Creamline is famlily. "To be in this kind of family that we have, makikita mo na we're just pulling each other up no matter what. We're happy kung sino 'yung nasa loob ng court at kung sinong nagpe-perform. We're also happy na nagche-cheer lahat sa second six in any situation," said Valdez. "Overall, I think it's a good sense of family and teamwork na nangyayari most especially this conference dahil sa paikot talaga ni coach Sherwin (Meneses) knowing na kung ano 'yung mas makakatulong at mas effective na strategy for us."
