Creamline, Petro Gazz to represent PH in AVC Champions League

March 9 ------ IN a late turn of events, Creamline and Petro Gazz will now be the Philippines' representatives to the 2025 AVC Women's Champions League from Apr. 20 to 27 in Manila. The country's single slot initially designated for the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference champions was increased to two by the AVC by virtue of becoming the host nation after Korea and Vietnam begged off.

AVC then approached Palou and the Philippine National Volleyball Federation to name two representatives already ahead of the PVL's expected finish on April. "The AVC called us and said they need the teams right away kasi magda-drawing of lots on March 12 so we cannot wait until the end of the tournament," Palou said. "We talked to the teams and we said after the (preliminary) round, the top two will represent the Philippines and that’s Creamline and Petro Gazz."

Hence, it was agreed upon by all parties involved that Creamline and Petro Gazz will represent the country by virtue of being the top two teams at the end of prelims play with identical 10-1 records. The tournament draw will be held in Bangkok, Thailand in Mar. 12, to be attended by PNVF president Ramon 'Tats' Suzara and vice-president Palou.

Five teams have already qualified for the regional conclave along with the Cool Smashers and Angels. Among the competing Asian champion squads are Japan's NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki, Thailand's Nakhon Ratchasima QminC and Vietnam's VTV Bình Điền Long An. All games will be held at the Philsports Arena in Pasig, with their hotel accommodations slated at the Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City.
