Choco Mucho completes reverse sweep to take Game 1 over PLDT

March 17 ------ CHOCO Mucho dug down deep and scored a reverse-sweep over PLDT, 20-25, 19-25, 25-15, 25-20, 18-16, to draw first blood in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals at the Philsports Arena. Sisi Rondina & Co. went on a 6-2 blitz from a 6-all deadlock in the fifth set en route to erasing an early two-set deficit and moving one win away from the semifinals.

And in the end, when Savi Davison erased three Choco Mucho match points, Rondina still had the last laugh and dealt the final blow. Rondina was two points shy of matching her career-high single-game scoring output in the PVL with 31 points, 15 digs and 12 receptions.

Choco Mucho also remains unbeaten in 2025 as it stretched its win streak to eight and has now ran for three months. In doing so, the High Speed Hitters’ unbeaten run — one that included defending champion Creamline’s first and only loss this conference — came to an end at five. At least for now, Choco Mucho remains a puzzle PLDT just couldn’t crack after previously losing to the former in four sets back in prelims play.

The Flying Titans can close out the series on Thursday for what could be their third semifinals run in the last four conferences. Game Two is on Thursday, 4 p.m., still at the Philsports Arena.
