MANILA, February 18 ------ Miss Universe Asia 2024 Chelsea Manalo said the new candidates for Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) are "in good hands" and wants them to "enjoy" the journey to the crown. This, after MUPH announced Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner up Ariella Arida as its new national director. "I got a little emotional because I know how it feels to be in their shoes. It’s so fast! So, I just want them to have the best time, of course, with the new member of MUPH, Ariella Arida, our new national director,” Manalo said. "I know they're gonna have the best time... I just want them to enjoy it. This is a new set of batch of girls competing, but not for the crown but within themselves," she added.
Meanwhile, Arida said the new position is "a big responsibility" on her part shared that her first goal was to have a Miss Universe titlist in her debut year as a national director. "Everyone is unique. At the end of the day, you're competing within yourself and don't forget to have fun. I think that's one of the reasons why I enjoyed my journey during my time," Arida said.
