Calabarzon workers to receive 2nd tranche of wage hike

MANILA, Philippines, April 9 ------ Minimum wage earners in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (Calabarzon) will receive the second tranche of the salary increase granted by the regional wage board last year, according to the National Wages and Productivity Commission. 

The NWPC said that workers in the non-agriculture sector in component cities and first-class municipalities will receive an increase of P20 in their daily pay. The increase will bring the daily minimum wage to P540. Workers in the fourth, fifth and sixth municipalities will receive an increase of P30, bringing their daily minimum pay to P450.  

Meanwhile, workers in the agriculture sector in first class municipalities will receive an increase of P35, bringing their daily minimum pay to P500. “The adjustments follow the initial tranche implemented on Sept. 30, 2024, and are part of the government’s efforts to ensure fair compensation for workers in the region,” the NWPC said.
